Change of address

27 07 2007

OK so I’ve had a small address change. It’s only temporary and I have been trying to avoid talking about it here in my blog until it is very final. Well now it is. Haha. My company sent me to Chicago to take a role that is usually taken by our foreign counterparts. I have been here for just over a week now and let me tell you that so far it has been a whirlwind ride! It’s probably because it’s summer time here that aside from my predefined office hours and the expected relocation stress, I have been going out and is continuously invited in many dinners and gatherings. In effect, I’m tired. But it’s all good because I use my weariness to combat any home sickness that may arise. I’ll dive into details in the future since I have to head off to another celebration. Suffice it to say that it’s turning out to be more than a change in address. In many facets, it is a change in life…. temporarily of course.

Meet the parents

8 07 2007

Well… not really. That part my GG and I already did long ago and it went smooth. I just thought of this title because that is how I sort of felt when I introduced Chin to all my friends in the office. Most of my officemates already met her in my office summer outing in Quezon. But the thing is not all my AAT-mates/dive buddies attended our summer outing. In effect, they kept on insisting that I bring her in one of our dinners. To most of them, my girlfriend is a mystery since very few have seen her and I rarely talk about my relationship in the office (since my life set-up is that business is separate from pleasure. Hehe.) They even tease me if my girlfriend was real or is she just an imaginary or virtual girl. Hahaha!

And so Leah’s birthday party is the perfect opportunity. I say this because Leah also wanted to meet her before some relocation takes its effect. After some ‘amazing race’ adventure going to Leah’s house, Chin and I were the first to arrive. I was on vacation that Friday so I had lots of time and still managed to arrive first. Soon after, the rest of the folks arrived one after the other with me introducing my GG to every person that arrived. Dinner, drinking, conversations and lots and lots of laughter transpired. Oh my, my jaw was continuously aching that night from laughter. No one was spared from teases and jokes – so yes, even I had my share of embarrassing moments. There were also some revelations that night. Not from me but from other people in the group. With that said, it becomes apparent that I cannot divulge details because that might detriment me as well. Haha!

Suffice to say that the night was quite important for me. I just realized that it was the first time that all couples are present in a single event, and I mean ALL (including mine. hehe). This is rare. This is also the first and last time that my friends from the office are seeing my GG for this year. Hehe. It was also one of the first instances when my office friends saw a side of me that they do not see at work – the boyfriend side. In any case, the reception was great and they were all very gracious to her. Thanks guys! Much appreciated!
